Dearest Parents, I want to start this blog post by telling you how WONDERFUL your children were the first three days of school. They were kind, attentive, respectful and it truly couldn't have gone any better so...thank YOU for obviously being such awesome parents! We spent last week going over rules and procedures and will continue to do so this week as we dive into subject content. Math: place value with one step word problems Science: scientific inquiry Grammar: nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs Reading: I will be giving students their Diagnostic Reading Assessment (DRA) this week. While I am working individually with students they will be doing a unit study on Patricia Polacco (to get us started on our fiction unit). Writing: To start our narrative unit we will be learning to write about the "small moments" in our lives. This week your child will bring home math homework that will be due on Friday. Their monthly reading log will not be due till August 31st. Please continue to send in any signed papers and thank you for doing such a great job getting those agendas signed every day. I appreciate your support and hope you have a great week! PS Please enjoy the pictures from our "Flashlight Friday"!

I hope you're as ready for Spring Break as your students and I are. We have been working very hard to get ready for the Milestone Test as I'm sure you're aware. We will begin the reading portion of the Milestone the Tuesday after Spring Break. Reading Section 2 will be on Wednesday and Reading Section 3 will be on Thursday. Math Sections 1 & 2 will be on the following Monday and Tuesday.
The Monday after Spring Break is when the Milestones Madness packet is due. This is the packet that was sent home three weeks ago with a reading and math packet. Those, completed at 75% accuracy, and 400 at-home minutes of iStation must be turned in April 9th for your child to get their invitation to the Milestones Madness party. Thank you for all you do and have a great Spring Break! Hi parents!
For off, I would like to apologize for not updating my blog in a few weeks. We have been very busy getting the kids ready for Milestones testing which starts the Tuesday after Spring Break. There are some important updates we want you to know about.
Thank you, as always, for your support and contact me any time through my Remind101 text! Hello parents! I hope you are all doing well and staying healthy! I am happy to say that in my classroom we have had NO cases at all of the flu so far this year. Extra thanks to Jared M's mom for sending in a "flu care kit" to keep our classroom germ free. Please continue reading for some important updates.
A couple of weeks ago your students took part in an Arts Integrated lesson for Fractions on a Number Line. The students had to partition their number line into sixths, eighths, or tenths and then certain types of movement had to be performed for a certain fractions of the movement phrase/number line. For example, 2/8 of your movement phrase should be a non-locomotor/swinging movement. Please check out the videos here.
